CleanR Grupa Member of the Board becomes European Climate Pact Ambassador in Latvia
Agita Baltbārde, Member of the Board at CleanR Grupa, has become a European Climate Pact Ambassador in Latvia. The title attests to both Agita’s personal commitment as well as the commitment of CleanR Grupa toward a sustainable future.
As part of the European Grean Deal, the Climate Pact ambassador community includes around 800 volunteers all around Europe, such as students, entrepreneurs, municipality representatives, and educational specialists.
The CleanR Grupa companies have long been dedicated to developing solutions that decrease their carbon footprint and foster a circular economy in Latvia, thus mitigating their impact on the environment. The group is consistently transitioning toward environment-friendly fleet vehicles, with low or zero emission cars currently making up 70% of its vehicle fleet. Also, more than a half of the waste collected by the group is recycled; as a result the decrease in its carbon footprint twice exceeds emissions caused by the group’s own activities.
In addition, the company develops modern waste recycling technologies, including Latvia’s largest and most cutting-edge building refuse sorting site Nomales and a plastic recycling plant. The group also promotes a responsible use of resources by having created the first exchange point of repair tools in Latvia and a pop-up environmental education site Šūna, which will soon see expansion.
CleanR Grupa has introduced a sustainability index for Latvian local governments and was first to launch non-financial reporting in the industry. These initiatives attest to the company’s commitment to the promotion of a circular economy and climate change mitigation.
The European Climate Pact is an initiative pursuing a common goal—a sustainable Europe for all. The Commission-initiated Climate Pact forms part of the European Green Deal and is aimed at helping the EU reach its target of becoming the first climate neutral part of the world.
