CleanR Grupa acquires Zaļā josta
To enhance the efficiency of its producer responsibility system, AS CleanR Grupa, a concern comprising Latvia’s leading companies in the environmental services sector, has acquired SIA Zaļā josta, a producer responsibility system provider. With the acquisition of a majority stake in SIA Zaļā josta, the Group consolidates the producer responsibility system provider SIA Eko rija. From now on, Eko rija’s clients will be served by one company operating under the single Zaļā josta trademark.
In line with its development strategy, CleanR Grupa has concluded a deal on acquisition of a majority stake in SIA Zaļā josta. Guntars Levics, Member of the Board at CleanR Grupa, informs that back in April 2022 the Group had already received a go-ahead from the Competition Council on purchasing a 30% stake in SIA Zaļā josta, and now—with the acquisition of a majority stake—the deal has been brought to a close.
With this deal, the Group’s subsidiary company Eko rija has been incorporated into the company structure of Zaļā josta. Eko rija offers used packaging management services, and it became a producer responsibility system provider in 2017. Guntars Levics emphasizes that this deal will allow the Group to streamline its producer responsibility system, which will facilitate implementation of the Latvian and European Green Deal aims.
