Riga Energy Agency and CleanR Grupa join forces to organize the Latvian Circular Economy Forum
On November 5, 2025, the Latvian Circular Economy Forum will be held in Riga, organized by the Riga Municipality Agency ‘Riga Energy Agency’ (REA) and co-organized by the CleanR Grupa, which comprises Latvia’s leading environmental services companies. The forum will bring together entrepreneurs, representatives of the public and non-governmental sectors, scientists, and leaders of the creative industries to discuss the practical implementation of circular economy principles in Latvia.
The goal of the forum is to promote knowledge exchange and partnership building, providing the widest possible insight into the application of circular economy solutions in various sectors. The forum is intended to focus on both the ‘big picture’ – the development directions of the circular economy in Europe, as well as specific examples and practical solutions.
“The Riga Energy Agency has prepared the Riga Circular Economy Action Plan 2026–2030, in which we see Riga as a modern driving force of the circular economy, supporting the development of new technologies, infrastructure, and processes aimed at returning resources to circulation. Our goal is for Riga to become a source of inspiration for the rest of Latvia and promote resource productivity. We are organizing such a forum for the first time to inspire and show how the principles of the circular economy can be applied in a wide variety of areas,” emphasizes Jānis Ikaunieks, Director of the Riga Energy Agency.
Agita Baltbārde, Member of the Board at CleanR Grupa and the European Climate Pact Ambassador for Latvia, notes: “The CleanR Grupa’s approach to entrepreneurship is closely related to the application of circular economy principles in business. We manage various resources, return materials to the economy, and this forces us to continuously accumulate expertise. By involving scientists and initiating the development of the Latvian Circular Economy Index, we aimed to encourage change, combine knowledge, share our experience with society and municipalities, as well as create a practically usable tool for simpler implementation of circularity. Last year, we conducted the first study; this year, we are sharing the results, data, good practices, and knowledge, so that, already in 2026, when conducting the next study, we will see together the dynamics and changes that smart management brings, and this gradually becomes a real benefit for society. The CleanR Grupa’s Circular Economy Index Co-working session will also be like this – practical and useful about resource management, public involvement, and a better business environment, so that what we do would have a potentially greater benefit to society.”
The forum program will include plenary sessions, discussions, and thematic sessions, as well as stories of entrepreneurs’ experiences and an exhibition of circular creative works. The Latvian Circular Economy Forum is organized within the framework of the European Union INTERREG Baltic Sea Region Program project ‘Creative and Circular Cities – Promoting the Transition to a Circular Economy at the Local Level, Engaging Cultural and Creative Industries and Industries (CCC)’.
