CleanR Grupa subsidiary CleanR Industry invests 3.3 million euros in the modernization of the waste sorting center

Recycling company CleanR Industry invests 3.3 million euros to modernize its separately collected packaging sorting center. The center will be significantly automated to reduce manual work and improve sorting quality, says Guntars Levics, Member of the Board of CleanR Grupa and Chairman of the Board of CleanR Industry.

CleanR Industry has already signed a contract with the company Azortum to modernize the center. Azortum designs, develops, and installs waste-sorting and bulk-material processing solutions in the Nordic countries, the Baltics, and Central and Eastern Europe.

“These investments are a significant step towards more efficient and modern packaging management. By automating the sorting of separately collected packaging, we will not only reduce manual labor but also more accurately separate different materials and increase the amount of secondary raw materials sent for recycling. Our goal is to turn as much waste as possible into valuable raw materials while reducing the amount of materials that are diverted to energy production,” comments Guntars Levics.

Currently, at the Vietalvas Street 5 center in Riga, separately collected paper, cardboard, plastic, and metal packaging are sorted on semi-automated lines and prepared for further recycling.

CleanR Industry sorts well over 30 thousand tons of various types of packaging per year, recycles 10 thousand tons of polymer waste into pellets, and produces more than 25 thousand tons of fuel derived from waste (RFDF).

The works are scheduled to be completed in mid-2027. At the same time, the center will continue to operate.

Azortum, which specializes in integrating independent technological solutions and selecting the most suitable equipment and technologies for a specific project, emphasizes that such projects are based not only on installing new equipment but also on a comprehensive solution tailored to a company’s operational processes and goals.

“In cooperation with CleanR Industry, our task is to create a technological solution that ensures more efficient sorting, a higher level of material recovery, and, in the long term, greater economic benefits,” says Azortum representative Taavi Põri.

CleanR Industry’s investments in modernizing the packaging sorting center are part of CleanR Group’s move to implement and strengthen circular economy principles.
